Twine’s value lies in connecting people, content and ideas together.
We’ve said it from the very start and it’s still true. From the users we speak to, to the usage stats behind the scenes, it’s obvious that people want to do one thing: get to company information as quickly as possible.
That’s why we’ve created our latest feature, Global Search. It’s going to be such an integral part of the system it’s important that we get in right, so we’ve taken our time over this one. After many months of development, I’m pleased to reveal V1:
As you can see, it allows users to access company news, knowledge, people and more, within a few seconds. The top 4/6 results of each content type are shown in the ‘All’ tab, but you’re able to tab along to filter results.
All visibility permissions are respected, so if you’ve got a category in your Knowledge Base that is locked down to the finance team, it will only appear in that team’s search.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the Global Search feature is that it paves the road for our future plans.
It runs on a new search service that will soon allow us to make search requests from places outside of the app. For example, you’re on Slack and you want to reference that policy, or you’re in Gmail and want to search for a colleague’s contact details – the search API allows us to start building these integrations as we take Twine forward.
In a workplace that is increasingly built on specialist apps, being able to access the information that you need, no matter what tool your using, is going to be super exciting.
